Class FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Strides Ballroom's Group Classes

Is there easy parking? Yes, all of our group classes are located at the historic Denver Turnverein ballroom. 1570 N. Clarkson St, Denver There is lots of free parking onsite in our parking lot. If lot is full you may use Fillmore Auditorium parking next door(on non concert nights) or come inside to get a free parking pass at the bank lot 1 block north of our venue.

What should I wear to class? Wear comfortable clothing. Most students come to class in business casual or casual wear.

What kind of shoes should I wear? Wear comfortable shoes that stay on your feet and have a little slip and a little grip. If you can do the twist on your kitchen floor and your shoes don't grip to the floor, your shoes will work for our Beginner classes. We suggest students wear dance shoes for Level 2 and Level 3 courses.

Do I have to change partners? Changing partners is optional. We encourage everyone to change partners as we have found a partner change for a few minutes can increase body awareness, helping you learn faster and become a better partner.

How early should I arrive? When coming to a class for the first time, try to arrive 10 minutes early for check-in at the front desk. Arrive to class on time, it can be extremely disruptive to the flow of the class if you arrive late. The teacher will not be able to take time to catch you up if you arrive late. Please note, if you are 20 minutes late to class, you will not be allowed to join that class session (refund will be given if prepaid).

I missed the 1st class, can I still attend? Yes, we recommend for our level 1 class that you start by the 2nd class of the month. For our Fundamentals class, Level 2, and Level 3 classes you can drop-in anytime during the month.

How can I pay? We recommend pre-registering for all of our classes online. You may also pay at the door, day of class. We accept cash, check, credit/debit cards, Venmo QR, and Paypal.

What is the Turnverein Venue Fee? Strides Ballroom must follow the venue requirements for usage. The Denver Turnverein venue requires a $20/annual venue membership or a free 3-time venue guest pass (does not include Strides class fees) for anyone attending evening group classes and dance parties. This membership goes towards the preservation and upkeep of this historical ballroom. Guest pass available at front desk or become a member at www.denverturnverein.com
