Frequently Asked Questions

01

What should I wear?

Most students wear comfortable clothing either business/casual or casual. Shoes should stay on your feet. If you can do the 'twist' on your kitchen floor and you find it easy to move without sticking to the floor your shoes will work. Eventually you may want to consider dance shoes, but they are only needed if you are going to be taking your dance skills past the initial basics. Please do not wear tight skirts as this will restrict your movement. Also avoid sandles, stilletto heals, or boots; as they may look good but they are not safe for dancing.

Getting Married - when should I come in?

The best advice I can give is don't wait. On average most couples take 5 lessons to prepare their wedding dance. Yes, you can sometimes do it in three if you are keeping it to 2 or 3 simple patterns, but if you are wanting something showy it will take more time. It is always better to have a little more time to prepare than to feel rushed and stressed. Make your dance lessons something enjoyable, and a fun way to spend time together before the big day. REMEMBER:  Bring your music to your first lesson, or at least a few of your favorite choices on CD, IPod, or smart phone.

Where can I get dance shoes?

I recommend Showtime Dance Shoes. This company though not located in Colorado is an excellent source for dance shoes. Some of the best brands of dance shoes including Supadance, International, and Freed can be found and purchased through Showtime. When placing your order you can give our studio reference number of #0418.

How long will it take to learn to dance?

There are many factors that go into answering this question. But the most important factor into knowing how long it will take for you to learn to dance is; how good of dancer do you want to be? On our initial lesson I am very interested in what your expectations are from your lessons. Are you just hoping not to look stupid on the dance floor at a wedding? Are you wanting to impress someone you know? Do you want to win competitions? You may start off with one goal and change as you go along because you are enjoying your lessons so much. Let me know what you are looking for at the start of your first lesson and by the end of the lesson I will be able to give you a more personalized answer.
